Next Stop Bradford

The challenge:
We were asked to build a case, supported by political and business leaders across the north, for the Bradford City Centre Railway Station to be a part of the Northern Powerhouse Rail/High Speed 3 project. We needed to highlight Bradford’s already sizeable contribution to the UK economy and how this contribution could be built upon with an improved East-West transport link.

What we did:
We created the ‘Next Stop Bradford’ campaign that brought to life all the opportunities and benefits a new station would deliver. We identified and engaged stakeholders with an event attended by over 60 business leaders, and developed collateral to nudge the issue onto the desks of national politicians to discuss in the House of Commons.

With a compelling campaign narrative now established, we launched a website and Twitter account to amplify the message and get local people onboard.

The results:
We helped secure and coordinate the support of business and civic leaders across Bradford and beyond. The campaign featured regularly in press articles and briefings, and established the Bradford narrative with leaders from across the north, Transport for the North and Government Ministers.

In Transport for the North’s draft transport strategy released in autumn 2017, Bradford was included with a station on the Northern Powerhouse Rail route for the very first time.
