Client:
United Living

Project Name:
Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) conference 2017

The challenge:
National building contractor United Living formed from the merger of two construction firms in 2015.  Social Communications delivered the rebrand of the business and has supported the team since with PR, marketing and digital services.

In summer 2017, United Living returned to the CIH Housing conference in Manchester and requested a stripped-back presence at the event which, rather than focusing directly on their services, would promote their number one asset: their people.  The client wanted to generate lots of genuine interest in the business through subtle promotional tactics.

What we did:
We revamped the original stand design to open up the space and accommodate more people, working with United Living to find a solution to encourage more guests but maintain a relaxed atmosphere.

We incorporated into the new stand a smoothie bar, plenty of seating and space, and promoted United Living’s presence at the event on social media, from the perspective of its GEM graduates.

The results:
Footfall to the stand increased on the previous year and the client reported it as their most successful year at the event.  Social media followers and traffic increased as result of the GEM activity. The event was used to build momentum towards the announcement of United Living’s 2016-17 financial figures, which were released in August.

United Living subsequently featured in the Construction News CN100 list for 2017, with Social Communications arranging an interview with their chief executive which was included as a key part of the overall coverage.
