Social Communications has appointed Diana MacCarthy as a new Director in its Manchester office – to accelerate the agency’s NW growth and diversify its proposition.

An ex-journalist with 20 years’ communications credentials, Diana joins Social following the continued success of the £2 million turnover business – shortlisted for Outstanding PR Consultancy in this week’s CIPR NW PRide awards.

A former Director at Manchester-based Intelligent Conversation for the last six years, Diana started her PR career in property, construction and social housing before specialising in technology, social care, retail and architecture.

A complete communications agency, five-year-old Social Communications’ client roster covers both public and private sectors and is drawn from housing, property, construction, education, rail, planning and major infrastructure.

Its current headcount is 33-strong, across its Manchester, Leeds and Bristol offices with the consultancy ranking #11 in Prolific North’s top 50 PR agencies 2018 power list.

As Social’s latest strategic, senior hire, Diana will help deliver on the group’s ambitious vision for its next growth phase and leads a team specialising in public relations and public affairs from its Northern Quarter HQ.

Delighted to join its ranks, Diana said: “With a £2 million turnover, Social Communications has a compelling growth story, a culture to be proud of and an enviable client roster. I was drawn to being part of its next chapter, its ethos and to delivering on sector diversification.”

Agency founder and Group MD John Quinton-Barber added: “With C-suite counsel, award-winning campaigns and reputation management amongst her creds, Diana will be in the driving seat of Social’s ambitions for the region, accelerating growth and expanding sector specialisms. It’s great to have her on board.”
